Wingback Chairs from the house of Wooden Street are perfectly proportioned for placement in lounges, studies and bedrooms. We promise to deliver you the furniture you’ve always dreamed of. Veena Narang from Mumbai came to us with a desire to have a dual tone wingback chair for her bedroom. We made a custom order as per her requirements and preferences just the way she wanted.

Here we bring behind-the-scenes and production steps of this symbol of comfort exclusively designed for the Narang Household.

The whole process starts with seasoned solid wood, cut into the desired shapes and sizes. These wood logs are transformed into the frame of the chair, complete with arms, backrest and legs, ready to support the upholstery.

Once the frame is ready, the foundation of webbing is prepared. Polypropylene straps are used for the webbing over a sinuous spring system that ensures a sag-free frame.

As the base is done, skilled craftsmen start padding it. Each part of the chair is padded separately with layers of polyurethane foam. The foam used is of premium quality, ensuring optimum levels of comfort.

Next, the foam and padding are covered with a hand-sewn layer of premium fabric, as chosen by the customer.

Enhancing the comfort and giving a luxe look requires tufting, which gives a plush, luxury feel.

In order to enhance the edges, nailing is done in the final step; nail details make this lounge chair more beautiful.
This is a laborious task, and individuals work in sync to construct the frame and upholster it.

Lastly, the most important step before packaging comes, that is the Quality Check. Respective authority consistently monitors quality by visual inspection. At Wooden Street, we have inspectors who examine each piece, as per the industry norms, to ensure that it looks right, feels right, and provides adequate comfort. Once the piece passes this evaluation, the customised Wingback Chair is tagged and boxed for shipment out of the manufacturing unit. 

This slightly-quirky adaptation of the vintage wingback does make a statement, but when upholstered in electric turquoise and backed by fabulous floral fabric, it becomes a real showstopper as desired by Veena Narang.
